OUR STORY
On the morning of Sunday, Oct 25, 2009, we received devastating news that our oldest son Joseph Shane Butler was killed in a drunk driving accident while out with friends.
It was discovered two years later that the young man driving the car that killed our son switched drivers after the accident, casting the blame on someone else. He came and confessed and turned himself in to authorities. We prayed for this young man and sat with him and his family for over a year waiting for the verdict.
Finally after many long drives to and from the courthouse he was sentenced to eight years in prison. I prayed that entire year that he would go free. I knew prison was not the answer. On August 12th, 2011, our son’s birthday, the judge suddenly and with no explanation changed the verdict to six months in the county jail! We all cried for the love and forgiveness God had given to this young man and his family.
Fourteen years later, our story of love and forgiveness is still being told and continues to reach far and wide of the mercy God shows to those who have suffered the loss of a child.
THE VISION OF ALL GENERATIONS FESTIVAL
When I was 14 years old I saw myself speaking from a platform in front of thousands of people. I did not realize at that moment that was a vision of the future… nor what I would have to face and go through to get to this day. Earlier this year, many years since this vision, God told me now was the time for this event to happen. I did not know any of the steps in how to put an event of this magnitude together. I spoke with my good friend, John Conley who suggested I needed a manager. What did he even mean? I had no clue. A manager for this event? Someone to manage me? I begin praying and the Holy Spirit told me to call April Potter that she would know what to do. I only knew of April as our daughter went to the same school. I made the call and April accepted the call to help manage the event and help me put the pieces to the event together. When we met for our first meeting, we discovered we had very similar dreams about this event and that God was doing something extra special and much bigger than we could even imagine. As I shared the vision for what I saw at the event, she caught the vision and could see it too. I wanted an event that would be multi-purposed in bringing together parents who have also lost children and honoring those children. Every single child’s life matters and has purpose… even now! I wanted to day for families to come together and celebrate life and have fun across all of the generations.… a day for restoration and healing for families and individuals who may be struggling with addiction as our son did, or from the pain of losing a child… a festival where all socio economic backgrounds can come together and feel welcome.… a place to find Jesus in the midst of the deepest hurts and problems. This, is the birthing of All Generations Festival.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024 starting at 11AM at the Wilson Co. Fairgrounds in Lebanon, TN just outside of Nashville, TN. It will be an all day event filled with many attractions from Monster Trucks, to Skateboarders, to a petting zoo, to kiddy rides, to pony rides, to BMX bikes, to vendor booths, to food trucks to music throughout the day. The evening portion ending with corporate worship, I will share my story, headliner music artist, our evangelist and a some very large giveaways closing the evening including scholarships and a car!
We cannot do an event of this magnitude without partners from all across the US to bring this event to reality. We are asking you to join us, to be a part of something bigger than us. This is not our event but GOD’s event! Pray about how you should be involved and contact us and let us know if you would like to serve, support the event in prayer or financially. We have big dreams and are expecting 10,000 to 30,000 people at this event!
